Poop!

Poop!

Why am I talking about poo today? Because it piles up. This fact was super clear to me as I cleaned the doggies' play yard this week. Having already filled 2 bags full with their waste, I started filling the 3rd bag. I thought to myself, "Didn't I just do this last week?" A small nudge in my spirit answered, "Yes, but filth must be attended to daily. Time is short."

We think it is funny. We like poop jokes and think poop emojis are cute. Truthfully, poop is smelly and messy in the natural world. However, in the supernatural world, poop filthy and unholy before God. Filth was such a big deal that there was a Levitical law requiring it to be covered and outside of the camp.

We know what poop is in the physical sense, but what is it in the spiritual sense? In the spiritual sense, it is SIN. The concept of SIN seems to be up for debate today by we humans. For example, some think SIN doesn't exist. You know...every one has their own truth?! Some think that SIN is just a concept. A concept that is defined by Webster or by theologians as missing the mark, but nothing tangible.

Truthfully, God defines sin and He hates it and cannot be in the presence of it. Biblically, filth or poop is a type of moral besmirching or defilement both in Greek and in Hebrew. It truly does exist and it is something that must be cleaned off or taken from us for us to be in the presence of God.

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21 KJV

Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes.”Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you.” Zecariah 3:3-4

It is also something that we cannot do for ourselves. All of us sin and fall short of the glory of God. We cannot stop sinning by our works.

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2: 1 - 10

Then he gave us the Holy Spirit to give us insight and power not only for our day to day living but also our day to day clean up.

Because here is the deal. When we don't clean up the yard of our heart, sin begins to build fortresses in our spiritual man and begins to control the physical realm around us.

In 2 Timothy it tells us :

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. 2 Timothy 3: 1 -5

We have found ourselves in those days the Bible is referring to. So much so that our society is filled with people who no longer believe in SIN, and it is not politically correct to say there is such a thing. Therefore people love their own thoughts and disdain God's thoughts or the very mention of his name.

We would think that this is relegated to the secular world, but I don't think it is. I believe that some in the church have been deceived into dumbing down what SIN is in order to make church a more comfortable experience.  God's ecclessia has lost its way and lost its power.

The problem with that is you don't need Jesus if you don't need rescuing from the filthy mire that you are in. If you can save yourself, why do you need a supernatural, resurrected, death- busting, demon-squashing God for? That is where Paul is describing to Timothy a form of godliness but denying its power.

This sinfulness is creating virtual strongholds in us and around us. It is manifesting in ways that are terrifyingly real (totalitarianism, abortion, twisted political policies, denigration of families and God's order, etc.) The secular society is worshiping at their altars and the "church folk" are worshiping at theirs. This is where we begin to manifest the issues that Jesus identified in the churches that are described in Revelation 2 and Revelation 3.

It would appear that we are in those days. The last days... Time is short, sin and lawlessness is running rampant.

What do we do to be prepared spiritually? Keep short accounts. Clean up the yard.  Go to the altar of Christ, the cross and make an exchange.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Start here, my friend!

1. Ask Holy Spirit to reveal any areas that need to be cleaned up.
Something like this...

Father God, search me and know my thoughts. If there is anything that is blocking me from your presence or that I am being accised of, show me Holy Spirit. Guide me specifically on what to repent of....

2. Whe Holy Spirit reveals it, repent quickly. Go to the altar!  Make the exchange. Remove the yoke of sin, and take on Jesus's humble and meek heart. Be specific. Something like this...

Father God, I come into your courts. I repent of ___________________(insert what the spirit revealed). I ask for forgiveness of __________________and break all vows, covenants and agreements that came as a result of the sin.

3. Thank God for his forgiveness and his goodness. Maybe something like this...

Thank you Lord for revealing to me that which displeases you. Thank you for making me right again with you. Thank you lead me by still waters and make me lie down in green pastures. Thank you for giving me food at a table in the midst of my enemies. I trust you Lord. I love you Lord. Thank you for removing the yoke of the enemy and in its place giving me Jesus' humble and meek heart and light yoke. In Jesus Name, Amen.

4. Return to this anytime you feel oppressed and off course.
